Dear Bob,
I have heard conflicting information about coffee drinking and whether it is good for you or bad. What do you think?
A: “It is critical that coffee is completely eliminated from our diet. Coffee raises levels of cortisol and insulin, hormones that accelerate aging and store body fat. Substitute green tea instead, which contains catechin polyphenols, antioxidants that boost metabolism and slow aging.
“Green tea can also block the absorption of bad fats by 30 percent, while the amino acid theonine promotes a sense of calm and improves one’s mood. And, of course, avoid chemical-laden diet sodas.
“It has been shown that drinking just two cups of coffee can increase levels of the stress hormone cortisol. An elevation of this hormone can have adverse effects on the immune system, brain cells, sugar metabolism, and weight gain.
“In addition, coffee drinking has been reported to cause increased body fat. Although it is not clear why coffee affects weight gain, clinical studies show that by reducing coffee intake, body fat goes down. When coffee drinkers substituted tea, especially green tea, they discovered that it has the opposite effect and helped them to lose weight.” (From the book, The Perricone Prescription by Nicholas Perricone, M.D.)
Best Wishes,
Bob

I add raw organic cocoa powder, some xylitol, and raw organic cream to my morning coffee. The cacoa does improve the flavor and I think it will help mitigate the negative effects of the coffee. Coffee drinkers reportedly have a lesser risk of developing Alzheimer’s, so not effects are not all bad. I limit myself to one cup in the morning. For the rest of the day, I drink green tea and water.
This is indeed scientifically mixed subject at the moment. According to respected Life Extension and others there are studies clearly showing coffe:
1. Dimishes risk for prostata cancer (male)
2. Betters and diminishes risk for metabolc syndrome
3.Dimishes oxadative cell damage (through its phenols)
So to only mention its draswbacks cant be fair as far as I can see.
Then we also have the studies, mentioned above, pointing at less risk for Alzheimer´s disease
Soory for the here corrected faults…

Hi Bob,
Just to be clear about coffee. I’ve been drinking coffee since I was
3 years old, I’m now 85, have strong dense bones, no stress, slender build, normal weight. I’m not bald, tan well, white race, & in good
health.
I think all the negative studies about coffee are flawed or skewed.
I drink about 6 cups of coffee a day, it don’t bother my sleep, don’t
make me nervous or jittery, & don’t make me hot tempered either. it’s
not a diuretic, & it don’t keep me awake, or running to the bath room.
Maybe I’m different, but I really enjoy coffee, even though I feel no
other benefit from it. I don’t drink sodas, alcohol, or unfiltered
water. So, go figure.

IN THIS MESSED UP WORLD WE LIVE IN TODAY, LET’S QUIT LOOKING FOR PROBLEMS IN FOODS THAT HAVE BEEN AROUND SINCE THE FLOOD. I THINK WE HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO … LIKE PAY ATTENTION TO THE FACT THAT THIS OBAMA ADMINISTRATION IS MAKING US INTO A THIRD-WORLD COUNTRY …INTENTIONALLY. WAKE UP AMERICA!!
