Pro-gun Organizations Call On ACLU To Defend Second Amendment Rights

Citing law enforcement data that suggests murder rates have gone down while gun sales have increased, the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) has sought to dispute the claims that guns cause violent crime, while the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) has called on civil rights organizations to protect access to guns in the United States.
SAF says a newly released FBI report found that in the first six months of 2009, murders across the nation dropped by 10 percent. Moreover, its National Instant Criminal Background Check System shows that in January 2009 gun sales rose 28.8 percent over the same month in 2008, February’s sales were up 23.3 percent and in March they were up 29.9 percent over March 2008.
"This shows… that gun prohibitionists are wrong when they argue that more guns result in more crime," said SAF executive vice president Alan Gottlieb.
"Firearms in the hands of law-abiding citizens are no threat to anyone," and increasing sales may even have discouraged violent criminals, he suggested.
Meanwhile, CCRKBA reacted to the announcement from The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) which said it will monitor government response to recent police shootings in Washington State to make sure no proposals violate civil rights.
"We share the ACLU’s concern that the legislature’s reaction may be to clamp down on the rights of law-abiding citizens without accomplishing anything," stated CCRKBA chairman Alan Gottlieb, emphasizing that the right to keep and bear arms is constitutionally enshrined. 
The ACLU is not to be trusted. Any group that claims to adore the First or Second Amendment – but does it’s worst to to act like a domestic enemy – is not to be trusted. The ACLU has a long and documented, anti-American history.
On a good day, the ACLU is as honorable as Marx or Lenin or Shakespeare’s Iago. On a typical day, the ACLU serves NO purpose in this country. Trust this group only if you hate being free.
Ship the ACLU to an ‘enlightened’ country like Iran. They need the ACLU. America doesn’t, never did and never will.
Along with the Democrat party, the ACLU is the worst hate group in the country.

And PETA.In fact we are surrounded with hate groups who claim to be acting in our best interests.
The problem is that these groups pose as something they don’t even believe in. Their organizations are purely political with an agenda that provides not for the animals they use to promote their cause.
JC—Peta is a filthy organization. I cannot believe they would rather see dogs and cats killed, etc. instead of being in good homes!! My husband and I love our dogs and sometimes I think they have a better life than some children, which doesn’t seem right either. My husband used to hunt all the time, and he always trained his own dogs. He has NEVER ended up with a gun shy dog!! He has the patience of a Saint and truly enjoys his dogs. And the dogs love him. Now, with all his health issues, he can no longer hunt. He can’t do the walking anymore. And as silly as it may sound, NO ONE will get his guns or his dogs. He would fight tooth and toenail, pardon the slang expression. And if PETA comes to my town, I WILL protest. I know a lot of people and I would form a protest march, we’ll run them outta town!
The dog clubs I belong to are fully aware of Peta and the Humane Society. Peta has infiltrated dog shows and released dogs on the show site and guess what??!!Some were run over and killed. PETA believes the dogs should be free, whether they get killed or not. America is being bombarded with these nuts. Americans have to fight back, and put an end to these terrorist groups, ACLU, all of them. Yes, they are terrorists!! And I am sick and tired of them.

I was contacted by the ACLU seeking a donation or my becoming a member. I replied by asking their stand on private firearm ownership. Their answer was they do not believe the second amendment applies to an individual right but rather a collective one. In other words only the state sponsered militia’s (national guard)right to bear arms is protected by the second amendment. Needless to say I did not send them a controbution and told them why I could never support them.
The only reason the ACLU would safeguard our 2nd Amendment rights is to protect their potentially violent fellow Liberals from being disarmed.
This is an interesting approach. I agree that the ACLU can’t be trusted, but this kind of puts the ball in their court, so to speak.
With the pending NRA vs Chicago waiting to be heard, Holder wouldn’t say when the administration would make it’s push to revive the “assault weapons” ban but Feinstein vowed to pick her time to revive the controversial assault weapons ban which was viewed as a failure when it was allowed to expire in 2004 , the appointment of Sotomayor who wrote, “The right to possess a gun is not a fundamental right”. Obama had a 100% anti-gun voting record as a senator. All this comes at a time when the FBI says the number of murders in 2009 decreased by 10% which would be the greatest one year drop since 1960. Those figures fly in the face of the standard anti-gun rhetoric, which is based largely on the contention that more guns equal more crime.
Thee attacks by the anti-gun establishment will use whatever means necessary including the use of the publicly funded National Institute of Health that released a study which claims that gun ownership increases the risk of being shot by 4-5 times. Critics have debunked their methodology and the research was never clearly stated.
I don’t know what the National Health has any say on guns. They can’t even get it right on Health concerns such as the H1N1 virus. Any how, my daughter owns a printing business and one of her clients runs a school for citizens to qualify for their Concealed Weapons Permit. They are so backed up, that persons applying have to wait six months to even get in school. This all started when Obama took office. Does that tell you anything. In Switzerland every citizen 18 years or older has to have a weapon and qualify yearly – it is the law. They will be fined if they don’t. Guess what country has very little if any violent crimes. You got it.
PS. As a side note. This year because the ACLU is so against Christians and using the word Christmas etc etc, my email group all sent Christmas cards to the ACLU and of course we passed it all over the internet. I’m hoping the others did the same. Can’t you see the mailman delivering bags and bags of Christmas cards that they would have to open just in case it really was a donation.
This is a most worthy cause, Sally. I’m all for lighting a roaring fire under the ACLU’s posterior. If they were convinced that many donations were headed their way, they would feel ‘forced’ to open every letter.
And, since the ACLU would need help in getting all that easy money, they would need ‘help.’ ACORN, obummer’s pet group, is the logical choice for this great task. Of course, the ACLU may have to sacrifice a few bucks to get that help, and it may cause some friction between the two groups (tough). It would be like creating jobs (something that obummer just doesn’t get).
Jam it down their misgbegotten, America-hating throats. The ACLU needs to be seen for what it is. It is nothing less than an organized, nation-destroying cancer. Anyone who thinks the ACLU is a positive force never learned the difference between positive and negative.
Now why would anybody in their right mind think that the Arab Civil Liberties Unions would support the right to bear arms by Americans. Arabs, Muslims in the United States absolutley, the rest of us No Way.

Here in town it appears we will lose 30 police officers by the end of the month. The major asked police officers to take furlough days, and a smaller pay raise. The union will not negotiate. Michael, you are so right. You just answered my question. Now I know why Congress will not give out any more leases for oil drilling. I just couldn’t fathom with so much oil in the US and companies that can process, why we were not able to drill and get out from under the importation of foreign oil plus at the time we need it so badly would create hundreds of thousands of good paying jobs.
The point is to use them aginst themselfs, thats very clear in the scope of this issue. Now ask yourself this question; what better way to do such, use a group that shows its hate toward the US, then to use them to secure your rights.
We all understand that the ACLU have done many things in the past that with out question go aginst the very core of the grain of Freedoms you all think you have.
Yet please note what I keep saying “the FREEDOMS” you think you have.
There are laws on the books that have not yet been enforced, these sleeper laws are no less of a threat to your life let alone your life style than Barry’s obvious assaults.

Why would Sunstein even make such a statement “it’s a contemporary creation based on modern interpretations and fears” if he believed it was an individual right created by the 2nd Amendment?
Of course Cass Sunstein is going to state otherwise in public now. It would be political suicide to say he didn’t support gun rights. The Liberals will just go back to taking their baby-steps in their ultimate goal to disarm us. I’m sure one of their big goals is to replace a Conservative Justice with an Activist Justice.
I had a Political Science teacher in College who said that retarded people were very conservative because they were afraid of change. I agree with the Supreme Court decision in the Heller case, clearly recongnizing the individual right to have guns for hunting and self defense. If confirmed, I would respect the Second Amendment and the individual right that it recongnizes.” What more do you want? The Conservatives are not the only group that believes in the right to bear arms.

The ACLU defend the Second Amendment or anything else in OUR Constitution? That’s a laugh. The only thing in the Constitution that they defend is the “separation of church and state.” The only trouble is that that only appears in the constitution of the USSR not ours. Hi Harold, Maybe if we convinced the ACLU that the church is against us having guns, they would work really hard to make sure we each have to own one.(sarcasm). I do like the irony of the ACLU& the NRA working for the same cause, but I remane sceptical.
I would look at anything they do in the defense of guns as a possible Trojan Horse. We need to keep the ACLU away from our gun rights regardless of which side they claim to be taking.
DaveH–I talked to my husband about this issue. His first reply was not too agreeable and he said the ACLU needs to stay out of it. He said ACLU has their own so-called goals and this issue may “sound” good to some but he doesn’t trust it. He said it will probably backfire. It is just another way for the ACLU to get their claws in us. Geez, I can’t imagine anyone trying to take his guns and his right to own guns away.

Jim, go back and read the article. I did not see the NRA mentioned, only the 2nd Amendment Foundation and the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. I have been a member of the NRA for years, but often wonder why. They have been sitting around sll of that time with one thumb in their mouth and one in their butt, waiting for someone to say “Switch”. I get tons of mail from them wanting more money. I am also a Life Member of CCRKBA. It and the 2nd Amendment Foundation were both founded by the same man.

Independent, I beg to differ with you about the NRA. They do a lot of solicitation for donations, but they are the most powerful Pro-gun organization in the United States. They work their butts off for your and my freedom. You might think they sit around, but I don’t think that is a fair and accurte opinion. There are many good pro-gun organizations to choose from.

I’m with Jeff in respecting your opinion but disagreeing.
If not for the NRA the CCKBA anbd the Second Amendment group would never have been here in time to have any effect. That and I do believe it is the NRA who are the most powerful challengers to the City of Chicago re: the Second Amendment rights challenge due shortly to be in court there.
I belong to Gunowners of America, which I think is the most efficient pro-gun group out there.
Although NRA appears to be doing the right thing now, in the past (20 to 30 years ago) they focused on Second Amendment rights to have guns for sporting purposes. That did our gun-rights immeasurable damage, as only a small portion of gun-owners are hunters. I have never been able to forgive them for that misdirection. The Second Amendment was about defense against any encroachers on our Liberty, including an out-of-control Government.
No matter which (if any) organization you belong to, it’s time to turn America back into a nation of riflemen. There’s some Homeland Security for ya!
Does this not strike you as similiar to the Tebow situation? The pro abortion people are in a real quandry as to what to do and are flailing about for a proper retort to Tebow without appearing to step upon the free speech issue.
To ask the ACLU to defend gun rights as stated in the Second Constitutional amendment is like asking them to take poison and damn well tell everyone, “Taste great!” It is a compromising situation for them and it is going to be really interesting to whatch them squirm or try to find a reason not to accept…Ya gotta love the thinking.
Ontime, you could say the cases are similar. However, let us be painfully clear in one regard. The self-made losers on the ‘pro choice’ side have gotten away with third-rate English and a diabolical hatred of morality for many years. Beyond that, a great deal of MONEY constantly changes hands while babies are laughtered in the temporary guise of a constitutional ‘protected status’.
The distinction to be made here is very simple. There is a PRO LIFE side of the issue, and there is a PRO DEATH side.
One puts a high moral value on a baby’s life in the mother’s womb. The other side is proud of life-destroying principles pushed by Margaret Sanger and Hitler’s Nazis (even Teddy Roosevelt was a willing part of the early eugenics movemnt).

It is accepted practice for posters to go off on a tangent from time to time. This is a kind of learn about everything experience, and use it for your advantage for your own pet projects. ie: After the subj. went from 2nd amendment, to abortion, I learned something about case law and the Constitution, that could have an affect on 2nd amendment issues, so it all comes back to square one eventually. Bear with us, we always get back on track.
Since this conversation went from firearms to abortion, let’s remember one simple fact. Our constitution does not allow either side to pass a law for either side, as it is a part of personal choice. If you want an abortion, get one AND pay for it. If you don’t, then don’t get one and don’t pay for someone else’s unless you desire to. Let’s get back on our constitution as we haven’t been on it for a long time now. Case law is illegal under our constitution.
I also am against the ACLU, however I think these guys are on track to force the ACLU do to something real for the constitution, but I highly doubt it will work.
How to tell a progressive from a conservative
This is really very simple. If they are trying to write new laws they are a progressive no matter what party they belong to. A conservative knows that our constitution already has all the laws we need in it laid out quite explicitly. A true conservative should be busy repealing laws that have been laid in place since then because they break the true laws of our constitution. Everything going on out here is based off case law which is subject to change with each new case being the precedent. This has no basis in constitutional law. We have wandered so far from the reality of our constitution that it no longer exists.
Think about it.
Pro Choice is a lie to begin with because it implies choice when the baby is given none. Pro murder is the true definition of abortion.
While I agree absolutely with you, it’s not in our constitution for that decision to be made by anyone other than that individual. It’s issues like this that have eroded our constitution beyond repair.

Great reply and I totally agree. This is just like the law of you being legally liable under case law for your child until they’re 18, yet they have major rights at much younger ages and you can barely discipline them. Again, this is only legal under case law which is illegal under constitutional law. Almost everything that’s been passed since 1920 is illegal. I’ve never opined here, but I sure like most the comments I read. I just wish more people would read and understand our constitution against the progressive’s case laws currently in effect.

I am only going to address a few issues on your laundry list.
The Patriot Act was only rejected by one Democrat in the Senate. And only about 20% of the Democrats in the House voted against it. Maybe the Liberal Citizens are against it, but I suspect that the Liberal Leaders rub their hands in glee at the power it gives them.
Not all of us like Medicare, but our money is being taken to support it, so should we just forego what we’ve paid for?
Being educated in public schools means we should quit thinking and blindly accept the propagandizement of our children?
When it comes to growing the size of Government, the Liberals are the champions, hands down. If you don’t believe that, go to the Congressional sites and start reading through the roll call votes for passed Bills. The Democrats rarely see a spending bill that they don’t love.

I agree that society has become embroiled with one side or the other trying to legislate their personal beliefs. I do think abortion is a very gray area, but still that choice should be made by the mother, as, after all, nobody has a greater stake in that decision than she does. Let religion assume an advisory role, but not a compulsory role. And by all means the state should not be using the tax money of anti-abortionists to fund abortions (or anybody else’s money for that matter).
We will all be dead and gone in a few short years. Can we just try to respect the freedom of others to mind their own bodies and property in that time?
As to our gun rights and the constitution: Just why are we waiting for the USSC to redecide something that was decided in our constitution. IMHO all this does is allow the progressives in charge to take away a right we already have. Tends to upset one, doesn’t it. :=)
The best we can hope for here is to embarass the idiots at ACLU and force them to look in the mirror and see themselves for the hippocrits they really are.
As far as the second amendment goes, only you can uphold your right with your finger on the trigger. With nearly 75 million gun owners in this country, we have about thirty patriots for every soldier in uniform in China. Your guns will only be taken if you agree. For me, I KNOW that life will be nothing but sheer hell after gun confiscation. What we’ve seen so far is childs play compared to the ramp up that will certainly place take after gun confiscation.
Remember that 40 million citizens were executed in Russia after the communist revolution from 1915 to 1940, many of whom were business owners and others who might be reluctant to embrace the new regime.
Putting 40 million in perspective goes like this: To execute 40 million people over a 25 year span requires 183 executions every hour or 3 per minute, 7/24s for 25 years-3 shifts-no holidays or vacations for the executioners.
NEVER let go of your guns-even if it means your death. I’d rather go that way than to live as one of their downtrodden slaves.
Lew, Here’s an observation on the absurdity that is British Gun Law that I recieved as an email. Some good thought went into it:
Real Gun Control
You’re sound asleep when you hear a thump outside your bedroom door, inside
your house.
Half-awake, and nearly paralyzed with fear, you hear muffled whispers. Then
a giggle. You listen hard and realize that at least two people have broken
into your house and are moving your way. With your heart pumping, you reach
down beside your bed and pick up your shotgun.
You rack a shell into the chamber, then inch toward the door, when it opens.
In the darkness, you make out two shadows. One holds something that looks
like a crowbar. When the intruder brandishes it at you as if to strike, you
raise the shotgun and fire.
The blast knocks both thugs to the floor. One writhes and screams while the
second man crawls to the front door and lurches outside.
As you pick up the telephone to call police, you know you’re in trouble.
Because, in your country, most guns were outlawed years before, and the few
that are privately owned are so stringently regulated as to make them
useless.
And yours was never registered. Police arrive and inform you that one
burglar has died. They arrest you for First Degree Murder and Illegal
Possession of a Firearm.
When you talk to your attorney, he tells you not to worry: authorities will
probably plea the case down to manslaughter.
“What kind of sentence will I get?” you ask.
“Only ten-to-twelve years,” he replies, as if that’s nothing. “Behave
yourself, and you’ll be out in seven.”
The next day, the shooting is the lead story in the local newspaper.
Somehow, you’re portrayed as an eccentric vigilante while the two men you
shot are represented as choirboys. Buried deep down in the article,
authorities acknowledge that both “victims” have been arrested numerous
times.
Yet the next day’s headline says it all: “Lovable Rogue Son Didn’t Deserve
to Die.”
The thieves have been transformed from career criminals into Robin Hood-type
pranksters who you victimized.
As the days wear on, the story takes wings. The national media picks it up,
then the international media. The surviving wounded burglar has become a
folk hero.
Your attorney says the thief is preparing to sue you, and predicts he’ll
probably win.
The media publishes reports that your home has been burglarized several
times in the past and that you’ve been critical of local police for their
lack of effort in apprehending the suspects.
But they also report that after the last break-in, you told your neighbor
that you would be prepared next time.
The Prosecutor uses this to allege that you were lying in wait for the
burglars.
A few months later, you go to trial. The charges haven’t been reduced,as
your lawyer had so confidently predicted.
When you take the stand, your anger at the injustice of it all works against
you. Prosecutors paint a picture of you as a mean, vengeful man. It doesn’t
take long for the jury to convict you of all charges. The judge sentences
you to life in prison.
Unfair, outrageous, this could not happen, you say,…..but
THIS CASE REALLY HAPPENED.
On August 22, 1999, Tony Martin of Emneth, Norfolk , England , killed one
burglar and wounded a second.
In April, 2000, he was convicted and is now serving a life term.
Yet, all of Martin’s neighbors had been robbed numerous times, and several
elderly people were severely injured in beatings by young thugs who had no
fear of the consequences. Martin himself, a collector of antiques, had seen
most of his collection trashed or stolen by burglars.
How did it become a crime to defend one’s own life and property in the once
great British Empire ?
It started with the Pistols Act of 1903. This seemingly reasonable law
forbade selling pistols to minors or felons and established that handgun
sales were to be made only to those who had a license.
The Firearms Act of 1920 expanded licensing to include not only handguns but
all firearms except shotguns.
Later laws passed in 1953 and 1967 outlawed the carrying of any weapon by
private citizens and mandated the registration of all shotguns.
Momentum for total handgun confiscation began in earnest after the
Hungerford, Mass shooting in 1987. Michael Ryan, a mentally disturbed man
with a Kalashnikov rifle, walked down the streets shooting everyone he
saw.When the smoke cleared, 17 people were dead.The British public, already
de-sensitized by eighty years of “gun control”, demanded even tougher
restrictions. (The seizure of all privately owned handguns was the objective
even though Ryan used a rifle.)
Nine years later, at Dunblane , Scotland , Thomas Hamilton used a
semi-automatic weapon to murder 16 children and a teacher at a public
school.For many years, the media had portrayed all gun owners as mentally
unstable or worse, criminals. Now the press had a real kook with which to
beat up law-abiding gun owners. Day after day, week after week, the media
gave up all pretense of objectivity and demanded a total ban on all
handguns. The Dunblane Inquiry, a few months later, sealed the fate of the
few sidearms still owned by private citizens.
During the years in which the British government incrementally took away
most gun rights, the notion that a citizen had the right to armed
self-defense came to be seen as vigilantism. Authorities refused to grant
gun licenses to people who were threatened, claiming that self-defense was
no longer considered a reason to own a gun. Citizens who shot burglars or
robbers or rapists were charged while the real criminals were released.
Indeed, after the Martin shooting, a police spokesman was quoted as saying,
“We cannot have people take the law into their own hands.”
When the Dunblane Inquiry ended, citizens who owned handguns were given
three months to turn them over to local authorities.Being good British
subjects, most people obeyed the law. The few who didn’t were visited by
police and threatened with ten-year prison sentences if they didn’t
comply.Police later bragged that they’d taken nearly 200,000 handguns from
private citizens.How did the authorities know who had handguns?The guns had
been registered and licensed.
Kind of like cars. Sound familiar?

We both know that “perpetual war” is a tool of tyranny, fascism and control.
They must keep the people frightened and believing that “they” are protecting us. They aren’t. They are however making a handsome profit from fear mongering and death.
As for gun control laws, they are as useless as breasts on a bull as regards public safety. Their only real “use” is in the ability of authorities to find and confiscate firearms. Which they would want to do for one reason and one reason only…to enslave and possibly murder us at will. History proves this.
It’s sad that there are people who actually do believe the notion that somehow gun control laws makes us any safer. These are people who put their faith in a utopian society governed by benevolent rulers. They do not take reality into account because it horrifies them.
When and only when we are once again a nation of armed citizens ready to defend ourselves, our families, our homes and our nation will we be a truly free people.

What is wrong in America today is that one party thinks they are perfect and have never passed a bad law, and being accountable for fiscal policies isn’t possible, as they won’t even admit that they were in power. The other party, hasn’t governed in so long that they don’t know how to use their majority to correct the problems we have. They act like whimps. What ever happened to majority rules? Senators should be happy getting 41% of their agenda passed, they only represent that percentage. Why do they think they should get 100% and that they are right about all issues? Thought you were going to be fair and objective, right up till you blamed the progressives for all the case laws in effect.

All posters here who have stated the A.C.L.U. CAN NOT BE TRUSTED are correct. It does not stand for what the A. C. & L. of it’s acronym suggests, and maybe never did. The U. is the only accurate part.
It will be interesting to see how this shakes out. I have been trying to think of what possible answer/excuse for the ACLU to use to get out of this one without looking like hypocrites and I can’t think of one, but I doubt that they will ever support the 2nd amendment.
If the 2nd amendment is a “civil liberty” and in my humble opinion it is, then I can see no way the ACLU can worm their way out of this one.
They will probably try and ignore it, “pretend” it isn’t there, and hope the elephant in the room just goes away.

I agree JeffH. The beauty of an open dialogue is that subject matter is brought out into the open where it can be refuted. Too many people harbor ridiculous ideas because they have not been exposed to alternate ways of thinking.
For instance, I have a cousin living in the San Francisco area who is very intelligent and very Liberal. I can’t really blame him because the newspapers in that area mostly give the Liberal side of things, so how could he learn otherwise? With the Internet, though, it is getting much easier to be informed about all sides of an issue.

I disagree – all people, whatever they believe, should be here. It’s an exchange of ideas – well most of the time anyway. Sometimes it all gets to be name calling and other insults. Intelligent discourse is presented through reading, researching and presenting facts and figures.

Go to the “slamming the supremes” page where the subj.is “obamas unjust words” There you will see some of the best examples of racist & foul mouthed liberals who are paid by A.C.O.R.N. to come to the conservative blogs, and try and totally disrupt us from our debates. (one appears to be a prison inmate)
There, on the last 1/2 of the blogs you will see such players as Gentleman Jim, a foul mouth racist, who uses 4 letter words every chance he gets. He is so bad that he is the only one to get his entire page censored, and received a copy of this sites “comment policy” printed in its place.
There are many others, two of which come to mind named coal miner, and denniso who are much the same. When they can’t debate the issues they resort to name calling and complaining about your spelling and grammar etc. It is just their way of “baiting” otherwise rational people into playing their game, and wasting our time and disrupting the blog. They have proven quite successful with this tactic, and I have fallen into their traps as well, and have been censored because I am not man enough to turn the other cheek. There is no such thing as “civilly” debating with those types of liberals.

Before the election, Obama said he supported the 2nd ammendment, but he believed that state and local gov.’s could make their own ordinances. I thought the Bill of Rights was for ALL Americans, not just the ones that their goverors and mayors let them. Another thing to look out for is registering of guns and gun owners. HR 45, (also known as Blair-Holt Firearm Licensing and Record Sale Act of 2009) introduced by Rep. Bobby Rush, would make it illegal to own a gun unless you are fingerprinted and can provide a driver’s license and Social Security number.
Additionally under HR 45, a person buying a gun would have to undergo both a physical and mental evaluation before making a firearm purchase. It also would require guns be secured from access by children under age 18, and would empower law enforcement officers to come into your home to check for compliance.

Alert: ABC News is reporting that Obama’s Department of Homeland Security is monitoring the comments and posts of conservative Americans and gun owners on web sites and within social networks like Facebook and Twitter.
Obama You Can Keep the “Change” I Support the Second Amendment.
This raises very serious concerns. This is America NOT Iran!
The Department of Homeland Security, led by leftist anti-gun rights Secretary Janet Napolitano, has a history of trying to suppress gun owners and conservative opponents of the President.
This latest news with the admission that the Obama Administration is monitoring the comments of Americans should raise concerns about big brother and the security and privacy of individual Americans.
We need to be absolutely sure that the political views of Americans – especially gun owners and those with conservative views critical of the President – are not being monitored for political suppression.
We need to stop this travesty now. We need confidence that gun owners and conservative Americans are not being monitored because of their opinions.
Political suppression MUST Be Stopped –
Last year you may remember the uproar over an official DHS report that Napolitano requested.
It was a formal Federal Government paid report titled: “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.”
In this report, Obama’s Department of Homeland Security said among other things: Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements … and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to gun control or illegal immigration.
First Obama’s federal department sought to tie the word and emotion of “hate” to those who favor state’s rights – in essence the form of democracy created by our founding fathers. Secondly, it sought to label as dangerous those who oppose gun control or who favor a crackdown on illegal immigration.
But there is more…
Obama and Napolitano’s official report also said: “Rightwing extremists are harnessing this historical election (Obama’s election as President) as a recruitment tool. Many rightwing extremists are antagonistic toward the new presidential administration and its perceived stance on a range of issues, including immigration and citizenship … and restrictions on firearms ownership and use. Rightwing extremists are increasingly galvanized by these concerns and leverage them as drivers for recruitment.”
So, if you believe in the Second Amendment to the constitution or if you disagree with Obama’s policies – you too can be dangerous according to Janet Napolitano and Obama’s Department of Homeland Security.
The Obama administration thinks that gun owners and conservatives are more dangerous than terrorists, Napolitano’s Department is admitting they are monitoring websites and social media feeds for “increased security.”
In light of her past actions it makes one wonder what they are monitoring.
Political suppression MUST Be Stopped –
When Napolitano’s report came to light last year it was also revealed that it included passages saying the American government should be afraid of returning troops coming back from war.
In effect her report said we should be afraid of veterans. It said, “rightwing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to exploit their skills and knowledge derived from military training and combat.”
Americans should be afraid of our brave men and women returning from combat who could turn on us. That is what Napolitano’s report said.
CNN reported that s a result the American Legion’s national commander, David K. Rehbein, said in a letter to Napolitano that, “I think it is important for all of us to remember that Americans are not the enemy. The terrorists are.”
Her response was to say “I know that some veterans groups were offended by the fact that veterans were mentioned in this assessment, so I apologize for that offense. It was certainly not intended.”
However, this apology did not include an apology to the millions of gun owners and conservative American’s who did not vote for Obama, who do not support his policies and who are not radical but average, concerned Americans – the same Americans who have attended gun shows, Tea Party protests, events like our Gun Rights Policy Conference or who have supported the NRA.
Now we find out that she and her Department are monitoring website posts and other online social media networks.
Do you remember last summer when the White House attempted to track emails?
The Dallas Morning News had reported the Obama White House government official website called for supporters to track “disinformation” from opponents.
Another report from the Syracuse Post-Standard newspaper noted the White House told their supporters “If you get an email …that seems fishy, send it.” They then provided a special email address just to track opponents.
The Obama White House has a history of trying to track and suppress political dissent.
The Obama administration has a history of using official government resources to track opponents.
They paid for reports critical of veterans, gun owners and those with conservative political views. They created a program to track messages and email addresses of those opposed to government run health care. Now the administration – the same Department led by Napolitano that issued the anti-conservatives report is admitting to monitoring website posts and social networks.
It is important to ensure this data is not used for political attempts to track opponents.
I think it is important for freedom loving Americans to have a comfort level that the White House will not use official government information to track the views of conservatives and gun owners.

Sate Trooper Prevails Against ACLU and Illegal Aliens in Bogus Lawsuit
On February 4, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit dismissed a lawsuit that had been filed by the ACLU against a Rhode Island state trooper who contacted Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) upon discovering that a group of foreign nationals he encountered were illegal aliens. In dismissing the suit, the First Circuit held that the ACLU – who had sued the state trooper and the state of Rhode Island on behalf of the illegal aliens – could not prevail on the multiple causes of action they filed against the trooper because he had acted “reasonably” throughout the entire encounter. February 4, 2010).
The lawsuit stemmed from a July 11, 2006 traffic stop, in which a Rhode Island state trooper pulled over a 15-passenger van for failure to signal when changing lanes. The driver produced a valid license, registration, and insurance, and stated that he was taking the other 14 passengers in the van to work. The trooper asked the passengers for identification. One of the passengers produced a gym membership card, one offered a non-driver ID card, and two others presented cards issued by the Guatemalan consulate. Though the trooper had difficulty communicating with the individuals because they spoke very little English, he was eventually able to determine that none of the passengers had legitimate identification documents. The aliens ultimately admitted that they were present in the United States illegally. The trooper then conducted a standard background check on the driver and contacted ICE. Three minutes later, ICE called back and asked Chabot to escort the van to ICE’s Providence, Rhode Island field office so that they could address the matter further. Upon arriving at the field office, all 14 passengers were arrested for immigration violations.

Obama’s Congress is now starting on the firearms confiscation bill. If it passes, gun owners will become criminals if they don’t fully comply. It has begun. Whatever Obama’s secret Master Plan is….this is just the ‘tip of the iceberg!’ Very Important for you to be aware of a new bill HR 45 introduced into the House. This is the Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sale Act of 2009. Even gun shop owners didn’t know about this because the government is trying to fly it under the radar as a ‘minor’ IRS revision, and, as usual, the ‘political’ lawmakers did not read this bill before signing and approving it! To find out about this go to any government website and type in HR 45 or Google HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2009. You will get all the information.
Basically this would make it illegal to own a firearm – any rifle with a clip or ANY pistol unless: It is registered, You are fingerprinted, You supply a current Driver’s License, you supply your Social Security #, you will submit to a physical & mental evaluation at any time of their choosing, Each update – change of ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25 – Failure to do so you automatically lose the right to own a firearm and are subject up to a year in jail. There is a child provision clause on page 16 section 305 stating a child-access provision. Gun must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18. They would have the right to come and inspect that you are storing your gun safely away from accessibility to children and fine is punishable for up to 5 yrs. in prison.
