Just one last one for you guys, George & Dave. Well, precisely because mankind could not adequately solve the riddles of life and death, suffering and decline, (S)HE INVENTED THE GODS AND GOD and all the myths related to their (or his) ALLEGED existence. Yes, maybe God or the gods exist, but then ONLY WITHIN THE CONFINES OF THE HUMAN BRAIN, nowhere else, I'm afraid.

Oh, one more point, my friends Dave and George. You keep telling us that the Bible is the word of god. But why shouldn't the Buddha's Pali Canon not be similarly qualified? How do we know EXACTLY that this scriptures came from God or some such entity??? Well, we really don't know. For the time being I'll stick with the notion that a few very fanatic and zealous men (yes men, not women) decided to fill their days and nights with scribbling a whole lot of myths on parchment paper and got a full bunch of folk to ascribe absolute truth to their writing. Nothing more, nothing less!

Unfortunately you forget one thing George and that is that is even if you assume that God created matter, God himself will have necessarily had to do this FROM NOTHING!! So, tell me, how could this have been possible, if you surmise that matter cannot be created from nothing??? Besides, there is another very important and crucial point. Even if you have to assert (which I indeed don't do) that matter was created somehow or another, this is most certainly no direct evidence for the existence of a super creature such as god. Simply because there is no way to gain DIRECT EVIDENCE FOR CREATION BY DIRECT OBSERVATION of the probable entity or entities possibly responsible for the advent of matter. Your God can ONLY BE INFERRED FROM YOUR BIBLE. There is NO OBJECTIVE WAY to DIRECTLY AND CLEARLY get into contact with such an entity as God and say, ah, well, look or listen this is God (AS SUCH). We plainly and simply know that President Kennedy did ever exist because we have a whole plethora of indisputable (video and audio) material to prove it. No such luck with god. Of course not, because if that had been the case we wouldn't have this debate here at all, never, no way.

So you'll have to do much better than tell me that there's any evidence at all for God's existence because of presence of matter all around us. We'll still have to show and prove that it's God who did it all, quite apart from the question (which you haven't answered at all) how God himself can exist in the first place!!!

By the way, I'm not saying that "there is no God", as you contend. No, I'm saying that God's existence has yet to be proven; the arguments for his existence are extremely unconvincing, primitive and thin. So for the time being the burden of proof rests with the Believers and I don't see any intelligent reason whatsoever why I should subscribe to their tenets.

Frederick,
The Big Bang is based on the Theory of Thermal Nuclear Dynamics. It states that matter cannot be created from nothing. The Big Bang theory is based on a piece of matter floating out in the universe and exploding. It then expanded at an enormous rate and formed the galaxies, planets, and stars. If matter cannot be created from nothing as stated in the TTND, then where did the piece of matter come from? If you want me to prove that God exists, I think I can. If you see an ant hill you pretty well know that ants exist. If you see a building you pretty well know that builders (or mankind) exists based on your previous learning experience. Therefore, if you see a creation, you can pretty well know that God exists. Of course, I know that you will still not be convinced, but that is your choice. It is beyond my comprehension that a person would try to take God out of the equation, but as it says "men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved." Because the Bible condemns a person's lifestyle they would rather believe it is a fairy tale. They, in effect, become their own god. I would much rather believe the word of God than human beings who constantly lie through their teeth and steal from one another. Do you really think that you will get the truth from men? The Bible also says that "the fool has said in his heart there is no God." But God has chosen the foolishness of this world to confound the wisdom of the wise.

David,

I have never thought that good works would save you. Only the blood of Christ. I don't see how you got that out of what I wrote. "You are saved by grace, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God." I only quoted the Bible, so you are arguing with the word of God, not me. But I do appreciate you input on this page.

You're absolutely right DAVE, we do inhabit two totally different planets. The faith you and George subscribe to just goes against everything I believe in in life. It's so completely alien to my nature as a human being, that I can't begin to tell you how glad I am to be free of the BURDEN OF ANY RELIGIOUS CREED. I really marvel at the wonders of Material Reality, but as far as I'm concerned we most certainly do not need a God or gods or messengers of god or the gods to treat what we see around us with all due respect and reverence. That's why I do not own a car, preferably don't travel by plane and am partly vegetarian. This beautiful planet has been abused so hideously and shamelessly by decadent and greedy Westerners in particular, during the past century, that it'll take two or three more generations of responsible citizens to put only a fraction right of what we've done to this precious place we call Earth or Gaia. That's why I want to fully support President Obama in realizing his GREEN AGENDA and wish him all the luck imaginable.

George one more little thang, I forgot. You are 110% correct, IN HIM,
THERE IS NO SIN! HE'S SEE THE BLOOD, NOT THE SIN! If you think, for
one second, your good works is going to get you there, Bubba, your going to have one hell of a wake-up call! Only the Blood, the Power is
in the Blood! not your good works.

Oh boy! Look George, the book of Hebrews was concerning the Jews, some
believed Jesus, died & rose for their sins, some believe that, but still made sacrifices, and still others just made sacrifices. I believe, it was Peter or Paul, trying to teach them, everytime you make
a sacrifice, you're recrucifing the Son of Man, afresh. He was trying to teach them, you don't have to do that anymore. Jesus, is the perfect
unblemished, Lamb of God. I would write more, but it is no value, to you. Believe, as you wish and understand, I do.

The trouble, Linda is, that practically every new generation reassesses the values, norms and solutions created by the previous ones and may opt for radical changes or adjustments. And rightfully so. If that weren't the case we would still be living in caves or maybe just a trifle better, travelling by way of horses and carts across this country. That's what's been astonishing me ever since I decided to participate in these forum debate. Folk seem to accept all the blessings of our modern age (sophisticated electronics, highly effective medicine and all), but when it comes to profound social change they all of a sudden back off completely and it's as if they want to stick safely and quasi-comfortably with the late 19th or early 20th century at best. Incredible really. But anyway Linda, if you're quite comfortable with your relationship arrangement that's fine, great even. But I won't go for scraps and peanuts. I demand the same (legal) rights heterosexual couples are claiming, for me and my lover. From a partner pension to the right of child adoption. Period. And I'm prepared to fight to get 'em.
