Feinstein introduces privacy bill

Senator Dianne Feinstein of California has introduced a bill that aims to protect people’s privacy and prevent ID theft by protecting Social Security numbers.
The Protecting the Privacy of Social Security Numbers Act, which is co-sponsored by Senators Judd Gregg of New Hampshire and Olympia Snowe of Maine, would amend Title 18 of the U.S. Code to address the misuse of these numbers.
The bill would prohibit governments at all levels from displaying Social Security numbers on public records on the internet, as well as from printing them on government checks.
Secondly, businesses would face limits in regard to the situations in which they can ask customers for this data.
It would also bar prison inmates from taking up jobs which would provide them access to Social Security numbers.
Feinstein’s bill could result in stricter punishment for people who abuse Social Security numbers, similar to the way previous legislation made hacking a federal crime, InternetNews.com reports.
Introducing the bill, Feinstein said that "we must also ensure that government agencies and businesses do their utmost to protect Americans’ Social Security numbers."
The legislation was introduced alongside a separate bill dealing with notification of data breaches.
This legislation is absolutely unnecessary. It would be nice if the folks in DC could read. A Social Security card says it is for tax purposes. It is NEVER an ID. Therefore, anyone would uses it for a dual purpose has willingly opened the door for whatever stupidity our government desires.
WHY is it so hard for people to do things right? A Soc Sec card is strictly for tax purposes – period. Anyone who wants you to use it as an ID is NOT to be trusted – especially those incompetent, career “public servants” in Washington. How can Americans be so stupid for so many years?
Social Security is not a tax. It was designed as a Pension Savings plan for the Rail Road as I recall hearing it told..many years ago. And It really is no ones business whether you want to build equity in a Pension plan so why is it that we are told to pay into this Pension plan if we do not desire to do so.
And it should be a non taxable Pension Plan and not for a General Fund use at any time. As to Medicare I found that this is over taxes and Medical expenses and Health insurance are two major rip offs in this country along with all other taxes. I say let the Constitution stand ” no taxation with our representation” and I do say – No one hourly wage earner should pay income tax. The rich and famous and Bankers and CEO’s should be the only ones and that of the Civil Service worker who is being paid they are the ones who should be taxes as Federal Employees or State.
The form is good and sounds good but it is a little late and will do no good other than to satisfy or tickle the ears of a lot of Americans. The fact is that there is no privacy in America, and one’s social security number or anything else about him can be found out with ease by government or by an individual. They had better be concerned with protecting American’s civil liberty and stop frivolous debate about social security numbers.
While Feinstein and her ilk parade “helpful” legislation so the sheeple feel better about Washington, we should be watching what her other hand (and her corporate contributors) are doing.
Instead we will follow the circus and ask for more bread.

While feinstein touts the need to protect Socialist Insecurity numbers, she won`t dare address the need to protect Socialist Insecurity benefits, so please report on how FICA payers are bilked out of their FICA `contributions,` if they don`t live to collect any benefits, or have no eligible survivors.
Remind FICA payers how their 10th Amendment rights are trampled on a regular basis, even though politicians recently took another oath of office to `support` the Constitution, hah!

Privacy Act of 1974, Title 5 U.S.C. 552(a) has been written which states the following
1) To receive public assistance benifits.
2) To pay social security taxes.
3) To receive social security payments and befunds.
I can understand the Feinstein situation, I sent her a get-well card, but she failed to see the head doctor? Woman is confused, one day she is pro-illegal alien along with Menendea, (D-NJ) and wants to stop e-verify…. Now she wants to act like she is protecting natural-born American citizens who have a big dis-advantage, we can’t get responsible answers like, is Barry Soetoro (a/k/a, Barack Obama) eligible to be the next president of the U.S.A. Congress has “NO” concern!
The U.S. Supreme Court, the so-called guardians of our U.S.Constitution have answered the situation with “NO COMMENT?” GOD, please bless America……

One ‘hidden’ reason for a Socialist like Feinstein to implement this bill, even though the idea is great on the surface’ is to prevent SS#’s being used at voting booths for positive ID. You know how the Socialists like to steal votes, especially the ones in the Dem party.
Some Socialist think tank probably came up with this – sounds good but poison underneath!!
It’s hard to remain objective if you’ve studied history outside the box for a decade. Every time I read about someone proposing policy with a name that ends in “stein” or “span”, I think of scripture and Revelations. More often than not, it manifests itself in sugar coated poison…RE: Silverstein and W7 including the World Trade Center. Yikes!
