Obama’s Unjust Remarks

Is the State of the Union Address finally over?
Just kidding. I know it finally ended a few days ago. But golly, was that sucker l-o-n-g. If I were to dissect every bit of deceptive rhetoric in it, this column would be even longer. That’s not going to happen. But there was one section that I found particularly outrageous.
Before I get to it, however, I want to mention the folks who were sitting behind our Dissembler in Chief. Every time the camera showed Obama, there was Vice President Joe Biden behind his right shoulder and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi behind his left. Those two got to spend the entire evening staring at the President’s back. What fun.
I have to say Joe was the absolutely ideal audience. Every single expression that crossed his face—his smiles, his frowns, his chuckles, his glee—seemed perfectly timed to match to the script Obama was following. It was almost as though the Veep was an audioanimatronic creation of the Disney imagineers. Joe, you were perfect!
I can’t say the same thing about Madame Speaker, though. For much of the President’s speech, Nancy Pelosi looked as though her mind was elsewhere… and she wished her body was, too. I had to wonder what thoughts were troubling her stern visage. Maybe she knows that her dreams of presiding over the socialization of America are over. Maybe she realizes her record and her reputation are heading straight for the dumpster. Whatever the reason, she looked nervous to me. Good.
Now, on to the speech itself. Anyone expecting a milder, more conciliatory approach from the president had to have been disappointed. There were very few mea culpas in his 70-minute address. Instead, his basic message seemed to be that anyone who doesn’t support his programs just doesn’t understand them. So he’s going to ‘splain it all again. It reminded me of Desi talking to Lucy, but without the Cuban accent.
The weekend before SOTU (that’s an abbreviation of State of the Union, in case you saw the acronym and wondered what it meant), Valerie Jarrett, one of Obama’s top advisers, appeared on Meet the Press. Asked if losing a super-majority in the Senate would change the president’s strategy, she replied, “He is going to fight for what he’s always been fighting for… We’re not hitting a reset button at all.”
Even more telling was the president’s decision to bring David Plouffe, his 2008 campaign manager, into the White House. Plouffe immediately said that he’d be working to pass healthcare reform legislation “without delay.” His message for his fellow Democrats? “[Let’s] prove that we have the guts to govern. Let’s fight like hell.”
Doesn’t sound very conciliatory, does it?
It’s got to be tough to be a conservative back-bencher at one of these performances. All of the president’s allies fill the first half of the House chamber. And by tradition, they’re supposed to cheer like crazy for every rhetorical flourish that comes out of his mouth, no matter how wrong or ridiculous it is.
But the group I really felt sorry for this time were the six members of the U.S. Supreme Court who were in attendance. There they were, dressed in those flowing black robes and seated front and center, directly below the president.
By tradition, the members of this august body are supposed to sit there looking straight ahead. They are not supposed to show any expression, no matter what the president says and no matter what the sycophants in the audience do. Under the best of circumstance, it’s got to be tough to sit there for an hour-plus without moving a facial muscle.
But these weren’t the best of circumstances, because right in the middle of his speech the president lambasted them. The justices had to have been absolutely stunned to hear the president say: “Last week, the Supreme Court reversed a century of law to open the floodgates for special interests—including foreign corporations—to spend without limit in our elections. Well, I don’t think American elections should be bankrolled by America’s most powerful interests, or worse, by foreign entities.”
Even before he finished urging Congress to right this terrible wrong, hundreds of Democratic senators, congressmen and cabinet officers had jumped to their feet, cheering and applauding the president’s remarks.
Talk about being blind-sided. As law professor Randy Barnett observed in The Wall Street Journal, “the head of the executive branch ambushed six members of the judiciary, and called up the legislative branch to deride them publicly.”
But there was something worse than the president’s bad manners. It’s that his remarks weren’t true; the Supreme Court ruling had done no such thing. Yes, in a landmark case known as Citizens United, the Court had the previous week reversed a 1990 ban against political advertising by domestic corporations and labor unions. But it left standing a 100-year-old ban on foreign entities doing so.
Yes, Barack Obama—an honored graduate of Harvard Law and one-time professor of Constitutional Law—had his facts wrong. Apparently, among the several dozen people who vetted the State of the Union Address, not a single one bothered to check the facts of the matter. While that’s awfully hard to believe, it’s better than the alternative—that Obama knew what he would say was false, and he just didn’t care.
The television coverage of that part of his speech got played over and over again on national TV. In numerous broadcasts, the scene was darkened so only one face showed clearly—that of Justice Samuel Alito. As the camera slowly focused on him, he could be seen shaking his head from side to side and mouthing the phrase, “not true.”
But it could have been worse. He could have emulated Joe Wilson and shouted, “You lie!”

Hi Guys Just wanted to post this for all those libral worshipers of the Great Obama and haters of Bush – we all know who they are. I just got this from my email group. I had known about the first part but not the second part. FYI I sent my cousin in Fayetteville , N.C. (retired from Special Forces) that picture of Geo. W. visiting the wounded at Ft. Hood .. I got this reply:
What is even better is the fact George W. Bush heard about Fort Hood, got in his car without any escort, apparently they did not have time to react, and drove to Fort Hood. He was stopped at the gate and the guard could not believe who he had just stopped. Bush only ask for directions to the hospital then drove on. The gate guard called that “The president Is on Fort Hood and driving to the hospital.” The base went bananas looking for Obama. When they found it was Bush they immediately offered escort and Bush simply told them to shut up and let him visit the wounded and the dependents of the dead. He stayed at Fort Hood for over six hours and was finally asked to leave by a message from the White House. Obama flew in days later and held a “photo ” session in a gym and did not even go to the hospital. All this I picked up from two soldiers here who happened to be at Fort Hood when it happened.
This Busy/Obama/Ft.Hood story is something that should be sent to every voter in the US .
Class shows up…
The doctor had his tv on in his office when the news of the military base shootings came on. The husband of one of his employees was stationed there.
He called her into his office and as he told her what had happened, she got a text message from her husband saying, “I am okay.” Her cell phone rang right after she read the message. It was an ER nurse,”I'm the one who just sent you a text, not your husband. I thought it would be comforting but I was mistaken in doing so. I am sorry to tell you this, but your husband has been shot 4 times and he is in surgery.”
The soldier's wife left Southern Clinic in Dothan and drove all night to Ft.Hood. When she arrived, she found out her husband was out of surgery and would be OK. She rushed to his room and found that he already had visitors there to comfort him. He was just waking up and found his wife and the visitors by his side The nurse took this picture. (I couldn’t copy and paste the picture – it was him in the bed, his wife with Laura and GW Bush)
What? No news crews and cameras? This is how people with class respond and pay respect to those in uniform. (Added by Sally – and people who care – not just trying to fool the public)

Michael, I live in the Austin area and saw it on TV. One of the Austin news crews was there and saw them walking across an open field, but they also stated that he did not want any press coverage as this was not about him. The Ft. Hood thing happened on Thursday and he was there Friday evening. Obama did not come til the following Tues. He didn’t hardly mention it before that either.
Most of us have friends and family stationed at Hood. I have a relative there. It was a very scary time for all of us. The Post was on shut down till about 8 o’ clock or a little before actually. Even the schools, children and all had to stay on Post. We didn’t know how many were in on this and they had to shut it down til they were sure they got them all and finally they found it was only the one guy. I have even been in that building where the shooting took place. The building is still closed from what I understand.

First, Bush couldn’t go anywhere unannounced, it goes against the security protocol of the secret service protection provided, and enjoyed, by all ex-presidents.
Second, I doubt very seriously that W could enter Ft. hood, say he doesn’t need an escort, and go visit injured soldiers. It just doesn’t work like that.

Don’t just pass along chain emails that say want you agree with. don’t listen to talk radio…for either side…because they are in business to make money. They do that by creating controversy.

These are the same people that will sign a bill without reading it and say that the police acted stupidly, in the same breath that he said that he didn’t know the facts.

Just for your info, my son was born in Turkey on Turkish soil, my husband and I are both USA natural born citizens. My son had a Department of State Birth Certificate. When he was in the Navy and needed a passport to go to Japan I had to send in the passport of where he was added to mine to prove that he was an American Citizen. He was then told that he must keep his passport upto date to provie his Citizenship.

It is sad that whichever party is in power the other just works to thwart it and nothing is accomplished that the country really needs while the public is distracted by tabloid “news” coverage.
Chip Wood complains about Obama’s lack of a conciliatory tone in his SOTU speech. There hasn’t been any from the Republicans since the election. There was once a time when the parties actually tried to communicate with each other and do something for the citizens. Now politicians are defined by their intractable hostility and their ignorance of public needs.
When Bush was president the left would give him credit for very little, now that Obama is president, the right gives him no slack at all. If Obama declared that the sky is blue there would be a filibuster threat from the right and a host of tea party experts appearing on Glen Beck contesting the statement.
It’s time both extremes put aside petty bickering and do something positive for a change.
I know it’s true that the parties are vultures waiting for the other side to mess up. They DO nit-pick a lot, BUT—this POTUS is ridiculous. He does not (imo) have nearly enough experience & US education to be where he is. He apologizes all over the globe for the US, he doesn’t seem to know basic history & facts. He runs off at the mouth in ways NO president before him has. He lacks couth & decorum (ie; response to Ft Hood @ news conference there)

Obama has demonstrated on more than one occassion that he is an enemy of the country by his endless apologies and his attempts to “fundamentally” transform this country. Reagan and Bush in spite of their faults, which exist in the best of us, were citizens and cared about keeping the American citizens as safe as possible and bringing a measdure of freedom and humanity to oppressed countries, where the freedoms that we have known in this country do not exist.

Arkham: Actually I would prefer Sarah Palin over Obama for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which is that she is a 100% Patriotic American. She has more experience as governor (more days actually present and working) than the few number of days that Obama spent “actively present & working” in his government jobs before becoming POTUS. And she ACTUALLY HAS A BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND ISN’T AFRAID TO SHOW IT, (you know “THE REAL” long form birth certificate, complete with doctors signature) NOT the short form copy that obama shows on his web site that anyone can obtain in Hawaii.. The Supreme Court is made up of 4 reliable conservatives, 4 reliable liberals, and 1 moderate, so it’s really pretty balanced right now. I think in this particular case, the court found no reason to limit any corporation’s, for profit or non-profit, right of free speech according to the Constitution. I don’t think they said there shouldn’t be any limits on corporation free speech, but they couldn’t rule that way and stay true to their oath of office. If you want to change or amend the Constitution, there is a process for doing that, but legislating from the bench isn’t the correct way, even though it’s often easier. If the court arbitrarily changes the Constitution through their rulings to suit current opinion polls or special interest group wants, after a while the original Constitution will have no meaning at all.
Just as a practical point, corporations today can lobby our political representatives almost all they want. This is often the only way they have of getting heard on topics which can affect these businesses, and much of this is done behind closed doors and in the shadows. Giving corporations voice directly with the American people seems to me to be an alternate way for them to lobby for voter support of a position rather than just lobbying the politicians. This should help educate Americans on the issues and get them involved. Right now, I’m not afraid of this. Are you?
Finally, it has always been against the law for foreign corporations to contribute to U.S. political campaigns. This ruling did not change that.

Hey George…I’ve talked to prominent lawyers who say that foreign $ will be able to make it’s way into our elections because of this ruling. Also,the core of the ruling is that corporations have the same right to free speech as actual people do. Find anything in the constitution that says that. It’s not there…the majority ruled that corporations are essentially associations of people w/ rights,therefore corporations have the same rights. That’s ridiculous logic and will not stand in the long run. If you think money is a problem in our electoral process now,just wait for the deluge.

Social Security is a socialist program, eh? Well, I was forced to pay into it for over 35 years… and all the money in it is gone. It turned into a slush fund for other programs. That’s like me putting my money into a bank savings account, expecting it to be around for me when I need it most, and then suddenly finding out the bank closed up. Who do I go to, to get my money back? The FDIC is a joke… it’s government-run, too, and IF I can get my money back, I’ll have to wait 10 years to get it (read the small print on your paperwork you received when you opened your account!).

I think you’ve made some good points. My thoughts are the military is a necessary function for the federal government, many other programs aren’t. Also, the American people have spoken over the years that they would rather buy expensive weapon systems than sacrifice lives, so that’s what we’ve done. This strategy has worked pretty well because we don’t lose nearly as many lives in combat as we used to, but we do pay an awful lot for these weapons. Having said that, I’m convinced we do spend way more for military weapons and support systems than we really need to in a perfect world, so I see nothing wrong with keeping the heat on the Department of Defense just like we should keep on all the other government programs to try to keep expenses down.
I guess you could classify the military, highways, and the like as socialistic programs only because they paid for by the American people for the good of the majority, and they serve everyone equally. If that’s really socialistic, then I’m pretty sure very few people will have any problem with those programs, so long as they meet they objectives and are provided at least cost and least inconvenience to the American people. The kinds of socialistic programs most of us conservatives don’t really like are programs that the government runs, or tries to run, that individuals or private industry could provide. We just don’t think the government should get off into these kinds of things because we believe the government 1) will drive up costs, 2) drive down quality and efficiency, and 3) usurp our personal freedoms.
Regarding toll roads, I really don’t have a problem with them, provided 1) this is not just another way of getting more money from us, 2) Americans are provided roads and bridges necessary to get around that aren’t toll roads, and 3) anyone who can afford the tolls and feels driving on toll roads is worth the money to save time and congestion, then the more of them that go that way just makes more room on the other roads for those who don’t want to pay the tolls.
Me? Yes, I would give up every federally run program, except those authorized specifically by the original US Constitution and Bill of Rights (first 10). Would you?
Now, that doesn’t mean I would refuse to deal with the local, or state governments… only the federal ones.

Just an observation. Why would you think anyone could turn this around in one year? Don’t you think, knowing that our goverment works at a glacial pace, it would take at the very least one term to see some progress? I can’t think of anyone (repub or democrat) who could waltz into office and turn things around in one year. Think about it: you want to enact change that will benefit people, not companies. Who runs (okay; has the most “influence”) this country? So you try to pass, oh, lets say a tax on companies making a billion in profit or more. What chance do you think you can pass that one? Almost to the number, most people would agree they would love to see corporations pay tax but it will never happen. Or think of it this way: we would all pretty much agree it is not a good idea to tear down mountains, destroy the areas we live in, right? No one would want that? So why are laws still in place that protect the coal industry? Because they wield the big stick. We all know its wrong. We all want it changed. But it can’t happen because there is too much money involved and the poor people who have all the health issues (coal workers and families)are not the benificiaries of all that wealth…Just thinking it through.

The goal is not to enact change that will help people. You want to enact change that will encourage business to engage in business right here in America. It’s not about redistribution of wealth, it’s about jobs. Companies need incentive to hire Americans instead of going to third world countries. Remember how he handled the air traffic controllers union? Job well done!! He took us from the disastrous conditions that Carter created, to a long prosperous cycle.

For me it’s not nearly so much how long Obama has had to fix our problems, but the methods and priorities he’s using. For instance, with healthcare reform, he could get a pretty good bill if he’d just have gone about it correctly. Instead of trying to force-feed a government-run program down our throats, if he’d actually asked all parties to come to the table with their wish lists, they could have reached a compromise that would have gotten sufficient votes to get it passed. This process would probably have taken longer, but it would have been vetted much better with the American people, and thereby gained more support from the public, I think. A second example, is his determination to close Gitmo and transfer terrorist prisoners to the U.S., and give them rights enjoyed by American citizens. This seems like an act that goes against all common sense, and is being done to appease his far-left base, largely for the purpose of trying to discredit Bush. This doesn’t strike me as a well thought out decision, and certainly not done to protect the security of the American people or keep the cost of processing these terrorists down. And, let’s not forget those other wildly “popular” programs like cap & trade, immigration reform, and stimulus (grow government and pay-off political cronies program), and ridiculous bail-outs for companies that can never pay back the “loans”, just to protect and enhance the unions. The list is indeed long, but unfortunately, not aligned with the top priority of the American people. Folks want to see some effort to improve the economy and jobs situation, and they inherently understand that growing government jobs isn’t going to spur the economy to create private sector jobs. Also, folks want to see real leadership. I am a lawyer,and if this president has a law degree,he had to get it through a mail order of some kind. There seems to be some discrepancies in him showing to have a law degree from Harvard.
There is some skepticism in whether he is a US born citizen. I have seen his birth certificate, and it shows that he was born in Kenya. What he has shown us is only a certificate of birth from Hawaii. My home is in Hawaii,and the certificate he has shown is just showing that he was born, but not in Hawaii. Coal Miner – now lets just get down to brass tacks. In our great country thank goodness so far we have been able to pick and choose what we purchase. One of the reasons the Japaneese cars and large earth moving construction equipment went over so well, is they listened to what their cutomers wanted – not so in Detroit. Then they built many plants here in the US and hired US workers. Many US auto makers had recalls also. There use to be a need for Unions however, as with anything else, they became too big and too powerful and really not doing anything for the worker. I don’t agree with the large bonuses or salaries that were paid to the upper echelon in the auto industry but let’s face it, everything has gotten out of hand – look what the sports players make. I believe in the “right to work” that you don’t have to belong to the Union. That is ridiculous. Many years ago my Uncle had a manufacturing plant in Indiana and the Union tried and tried to get in. He paid his workers better than what the same job paid under a Union Shop, however, low and behold, even though he said, I have made my money, if you vote in a Union, I will close the plant. And that is exactly what happened. Unions are like Governments – I think it was Thomas Jefferson that wrote, A republic is when the Government is afraid of the people, A demoracy is when the people fear the Government. That is where we are today.
When Union members extort higher salaries from the companies, who do you think pays for that? We do. Either that or the company goes out of business and the jobs go to some foreign country.

I won’t go so far as to call Obama a liar, just because I don’t know that he intentionally misrepresents the truth. (I don’t like it when liberals call Bush a liar for the same reason.) However, I can say that there appears to be a remarkable misalignment between what Obama says and what it appears to me he is really doing. One of the latest examples is his promise to show the healthcare reform debates and committee meetings on CSPAN for all to see. That didn’t happen, and he now admits that may have been a mistake. This sort of thing certainly doesn’t inspire unwavering support from me.

The left is against big corporations donating money to politicians. However, they don’t object to the unions doing the same thing. What’s the difference? What history lesson? It appears to me that all our problems began back in 1970 when the Congress passed the Environmental Protection Act that created the Agency that has de-industrialized America. In 1970, I was a young chemist working in the chemical industry. When the regs began to come down the pike, the industry tried desperately to comply, but it soon found that there was no way to do so without it affecting its bottom line. Therefore, it began to look at alternatives: outsourcing, closing plants, and building plants in China and other places where the regs were less and labor was less costly and less prone to sue. Now we wonder why the deficits are skyrocketing. We no longer have the tax base to pay for our social security, our medicare, and life of do-nothing luxury. Please study real history beginning from the beginning. It has been a long time since 1970, but that is where it all began. These were the days when Nizon and the Republicans controlled the White House, but the democrats, who created the problem, controlled the Congress.

However, at the moment, our infrastructure is in horrible disaray. Bridges that are unsafe. I think that Ohio has the most potholes of any other state in the Union. I can remember when we came back from Turkey in the early 60′s – the interstate I think it was I-70 or I-75, I cannot remember now was an absolute joy to drive on – couldn’t believe it. I am fairly successful and comfortable in California, self educated and have never abused the system. DaveH… what many people fail to realize is that Reagan was also incredibly lucky. When Reagan was elected he just happened to take office when the biggest chunk of the Baby Boom generation was graduating and entering the workforce. A huge spike in employees… led to more people making money and more people spending money because there were MORE people actively participating in the economy. Now the Baby Boom Generation is slowing down their economic activity (honestly, how many houses and cars do they need?), the following demographic groups aren’t as large and automation and out-sourcing haven’t helped either. Reagan made it great, but with the demographics of the early 80s, even Carter couldn’t have screwed it up.
No… on second thought, Carter probably would have messed it up, but the 80s were still a pretty good time for the economy.

I was on the tail end of the baby-boomers and I was 30 when Reagan took office. Try again.
The Baby Boom generation in the US ended around 1964. The year with the largest birthrate in the US (not including Obama) was 1961. Therefore the biggest graduation year from college would be 1983. The lead-up years would have been very good too. Read the book “Boom, Bust and Echo”, although it’s written by a Canadian, the rules of demographics still apply to the US. Read any book on demographics, you’ll understand my point better.
AND… even though you were in your late 20s/early 30s I’m sure you were doing what every one does in that period of life. Buy a first house. Get married. Have kids. Spend lots of money, which is my point. That’s a huge catalyst to an economy when so many people hit that age or are about to.
Oh… and sorry to break it to you… YOU were NOT the tail end of the Baby Boom. You were in the second cohort (of the three cohorts that make up the Baby Boom. The last cohort, known as Generation X was born between 1960-64 in the US and 1960-66 in Canada). The reasons the Baby Boom ended, the introduction of “the Pill” and the increasing number of women delaying child birth by attending college and starting careers.

DaveH… just read the book “Boom, Bust and Echo” by David Foot, it’s a masterwork on demographics. It’s a good read, not just piles of stats.
The Baby Boom is very well defined population boom in postwar America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Four countries that sent men off to war and had those men come home in large numbers, all around the same time, to countries that were untouched by the war. These four countries didn’t have to repair bombed out infrastructure (except maybe Pearl Harbor) and these countries already had fairly robust economies.
I don’t attribute the arrest of inflation in one year to the growth in the work force, but to a combination of factors. “Reaganonmics” being one and yes, demographics was another factor that helped the situation. I’m concerned about Weimar-Republic / Argentina / Zimbabwe types of hyper-inflation hitting the US and Trillion dollar debt.
Oh and by the way, the economy was awesome under Reagan. Anybody that disputes that is avoiding reality. If you ever need someone to come to your defense on THAT, I’ve got your back. Again, my point is that demographics helped make that a great time.
Yes Dave, the Baby Boom Echo is now a new bulge in the population, but the BIGGEST bulge in the population is still the end of the Baby Boom. Look at your chart. The biggest bulge is the 35-39 and the 40-44 demos. That was the year 2000. That bulge is now 45 to 54 years old and not as economically active as they used to be. AND yes, by my logic, and if there were no computers, and no global markets, and no outsourcing of jobs the economy might turn around due to this next population bulge… but it’s not the 80s anymore… and sadly, Ronald Reagan isn’t the President anymore.

It sucked because he was (along with fellow Democrat Congressmen) growing government regulations dramatically during those years. If those countries out rank the US, in terms of economic freedom, why is it so wrong for the US to consider universal healthcare? Or being a little more socialist? After all, it works for the countries that outrank the US (and ironically #1 ranked Hong Kong is technically part of communist China).

You and DaveH have had a pretty good exchange here. I just wanted to add a bit to it. I was 20 in 1980, trailing edge of the Boomers (Interestingly, I have noticed I have traits attributed to both the Boomers and GenX populations and found myself over the years trying to “bridge the gap” between the Boomers and the Xers in a corporate environment). While I would love to read the book you recommend, I cannot in the next few moments.
One thing I would like to say is that while we BoomXers were large in numbers, we were really happy to have someone (Reagan) tell us there was hope (and even some explanation of why there was hope), especially after the gloomy years of Carter’s defeatist attitude.

Hey AnhydrousBob… I totally agree with you. I think Reagan was a breath of fresh air. Carter was an honest and decent man, but kind of plain and dreary too, definitely not an inspirational leader. The US and the world needed Reagan. He stood-up to Iranian hostage-takers, he stood-up to the Soviet Union. He had vision. Reaganomics… the Strategic Defense Initiative (whatever you may have thought of the SDI at least it had an objective. If the ONLY thing the SDI did was terrify the Soviets, it still had some value.) Thatcher was the same thing for the UK. After years of gloomy, dull and passionless Labour Governments, Thatcher stood for change, positive change. I believe that citizens of other countries also benefited from Reagan (and Thatcher).
(BTW A-Bob… as a 20 year-old in 1980, according to David Foot, the man who coined the phrase Generation X, you would have been the first year of Generation X. As originally defined by Foot, Generation X is the last phase of the Baby Boom generation. Having been involved in the radio business and marketing for a long while, understanding demographics has been a necessary evil. In the interest of full disclosure… about the whole “Generation X” thing. David Foot the demographer is partly responsible for associating Generation X to a specific demographic. He “borrowed” the phrase from the author Douglas Coupland and his book “Generation X: Tales for an Accelerated Culture”. Coupland’s book was about people around his own age (he was born in ’61) and how his generation was tired of being lumped in with the whole Baby Boom period and people of his age “being marginalized in lousy jobs”. He actually called them McJobs (and yes that’s where that term came from).
However, Coupland has admitted that the term “Generation X” actually comes from the name of the band Billy Idol played in before he went solo.
It isn’t a matter of wanting the president to fail, it is wanting his idealog and agenda to fail.

The Washington Post babbled again today about Obama inheriting a huge deficit from Bush, blah blah blah. Amazingly enough, a lot of people swallow this nonsense. Let’s review the budget process of the past few years: Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress, and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democratic Party. They controlled the budget process for FY 2008 and FY 2009, as well as FY 2010 and FY 2011. In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush. Bush (somewhat belatedly) got tough on spending increases. This caused them to compromise on spending. For FY 2009, though, Nazi Pelosi and Harry Reid by-passed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until OsamaObama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the FY 2009 budgets. And where was OsamaObama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete FY 2009. If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the FY 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. After that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending–and that includes OsamaObama, who voted for the budgets. If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself.
In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is: “I inherited a deficit that I voted for; and then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th.” THAT is the TRUTH about our deficit!

Agreed, Kathy! The Congress ought to enact an amendment for qualification for Presidency… that the President cannot come from Congress’ previous term. In other words, at least 4 years must lapse before a member of Congress can run for President. That way, any legislation will not be tainted by a congressional member and then signed into law as president, by the same member.

Until that happens, we’re doomed for more of the same. The progressive movement has permeated just about every facet of our lives, and even our children are being indoctrinated in it… because they are not taught how and why our country was formed. Have you ever compared how our children are being stolen from us, just like Hitler’s National Democratic Socialist Party did to Germany’s children? That’s why my grandparents left Prussia (once known as East Germany)and emigrated to the US… to keep their children away from the NAZI’s movement.
Our problems aren’t going to be solved by voting RINOs into Congress.
We need to start insisting on candidates that will promise (and keep their promise) to roll back the size of Government significantly.

Presidents are irrelevant as the cause of the nation’s fiscal problems. Even high school students know that budgets are made in the Congress, especially the People’s Chamber where all spending legislation must begin. This chamber is elected by the people. It is time that we made them responsible. It is not responsible to continue to increase the debt limit in order to give themselves a raise while cutting COLA and Social Security increases.

Workmen’s comp on the other hand is state controlled that if an employee gets hurt on the job, he medical is paid and he draws a portion of his wages from Worker’s Compensation Insurance. Since I turned 70 this year,I often wonder if I’ll ever see our great country restored to the greatness I new as a young child where Mom,baseball,hot dogs and apple pie were cherished as well as our pride. I was especially proud to give up a lot of things in my childhood to support the National effort to defeat warring factions on two fronts[WWII-the big on you know]. It was my duty just like all Americans. It was the least we could do for those doing the fighting, especially those millions who never would return home to the land they were fighting and dieing for. Back then the government wasn’t perfect-but when things needed done-they got done, especially on the home security front.
