Food For Those Overweight!
March 18, 2009 by Bob Livingston
From Royal Lee, M.D.,: “Eat potatoes instead of bread.” It is good advice for the overweight who are constantly engaged in the battle of the calories. Pound for pound, potatoes furnish about one-third less calories than bread—so we may eat three times as much on a caloric basis. (There are about 100 calories per medium-sized raw potato, which is much less than a serving of spaghetti, pie or cake.) In addition, its superior digestibility and food value as a source of protein, vitamins and minerals make it ideal for reducing the caloric intake without sacrifice of many essential food factors.
The dilemma, now a crisis of obesity, according to Lee, is processed foods. Processed foods are foods we buy prepared and foods that we cook. These are actually incomplete foods because most of what we eat are dead foods that cannot support life in a healthy state.
Virtually the only reliable source of complete food complexes today is found in raw foods. Raw apples, potatoes, vegetables, fruits, raw meats, eggs, unpasteurized raw milk, cream and butter—all are foods which, under present-day circumstances, are as complete as it is possible to obtain. If obesity were attacked with raw foods, not only would the problem be obliterated, but the condition of our nation would improve to the point where we, instead of being the sickest nation on earth, would be the healthiest.
Obesity is a disease of civilization, or better stated, uncivilization. It is the primitive races that are civilized. They eat whole raw foods and they do not have obesity, cancer, diabetes, hardening of the arteries or tooth decay. And they don’t have parasites like the medical establishment and the FDA bothering them. In the so-called civilized world, the system debauches our health and then the “medical establishment” profits from sickness.

Glutony is the problem not fast foods! You need to observe the people eating, especially young FAT ones. 3 burgers and large fries plus gigantic drinks. add pies
and milkshakes! In Florida there are a large number of senior citizens and in that group they are primarily not overweight.
I agree that the problem is processed foods but not necessarily all cooked foods. Ideally, a largely raw diet would be much healthier than the diet we now eat.
The use of lots of white flour products, soy and chemicals & hormones in our food and food containers, plus a lot more sugar, is the key to ill health and weight gain in this country. When I was a kid, we raised our own beef and chicken, eggs and drank raw milk with lots of cream in it and ate all the homemade butter we wanted but none of us were fat even though nearly everything was fried in lotrs of shortening or meat drippings. We had honey, jelly, apple butter and sorghum but there was no pop, candy, chips, boughten snacks or deserts, except on rare special occasions.
The idea that all primitive peoples are healthy and parasite free is a myth. I read what missionaries have to say about the living conditions of such people and one of the primary things they do is provide medical care. Most of these peoples do not understand about basic sanitation and cleanliness and their water supplies are contaminated. Once these have been corrected, the health of the people greatly improve. It is true that many of the primitive peoples do not have heart disease and obesity but they do have other health issues because many peoples do not have adequate food or enough variety or the soil doesn’t provide the nutrients they need.
In some countries you cannot eat raw vegetables due to the parasite problems. Even in this country it is not wise to eat raw meat, so we have to use common sense.
We can’t do better than quality food. Quality means raw food. When it comes to being overweight and/or young and overweight, I suspect most of the problems stem from being addicted to white, refined sugar and those ** artificial sweeteners. Like it or not, parents, this is your job. This problem won’t go away by itself.
Healthy eating/living is not part of American culture. It has to be learned. It would be wonderful if our health experts would dare to intervene and make a difference. Sadly – predictably – the AMA crowd is too busy making easy money by ignoring the Hippocratic oath.
